SEO Strategy Basics

Updated: Jun 15, 2021

What is an SEO strategy? An SEO strategy (also known as search engine optimisation strategy or SEO strategy) is the logical process of strategising, outlining and carrying out measures designed to increase search engine rankings for websites on the internet. Simply put: an SEO strategy is how you follow through when you intend to receive more organic, free web traffic. So what makes up such a strategy?

The most important SEO factor to consider is link building. Link building (or simply, back-linking) is an integral part of any successful SEO strategy. Back-linking refers to submitting relevant, low-cost, quality links to content and information on a website. The higher the quality of the back-link - the higher the site's ranking.

Next, we have the search volume, which is comprised of two major components: daily and monthly search volume. Daily search volume refers to searching a particular URL over a set period of time. Monthly search volume refers to searches performed over a month, which indicates the volume of unique visitors. These two concepts are intimately related, as the quality of back-links can have a direct impact on the SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages) and the value of keywords used in the content can also have a significant impact on search volume.

If you're unfamiliar with these terms, don't worry - search volume and keyword research are not mutually exclusive terms. A certain amount of both can be included within a single SEO strategy. Search engine optimisation techniques may attempt to separate the two components, but this usually isn't the case. The goal should be to create a high-quality mix of both, which will drive your desired results and increase your search volume.

On-page SEO or "SEO" is linked to off-page SEO or "RDF". In a nutshell, RDF is an internet language that describes how to build websites using a vocabulary of traditional web programming languages, such as HTML, PHP, ASP, and CSS. On-page SEO often focuses on how a website will rank in search results for particular keywords. For example, if you're looking to rank for "motor car" in Google, you'd want to make sure that your webpage contains relevant keywords. This can be done through on-page optimization strategies, such as building internal links, creating relevant XML sitemaps and optimizing images and text content using relevant algorithms. Off-page SEO, on the other hand, deals with techniques that will improve the external look and feel of the website - these techniques are commonly referred to "technical SEO". Technical SEO is also frequently mixed with on-page optimization. For example, you may want to build internal links from reputable sources, but you might also want to take advantage of special discounts or promotions offered by a merchant, promote related content from a forum or blog, or use Google's AdSense program to monetize your site. Each of these techniques has the potential to affect your ranking in Google's search results, and so they must be integrated together in a well-planned SEO strategy.

A comprehensive on-page SEO plan should include both on-page and off-page SEO strategies. Creating unique content for your website that is optimized for specific keywords is one way to build higher Search Engine Optimization ranks. Another strategy for higher rankings is to conduct link exchanges or other forms of content exchanges with other websites that have similar products, services, or goals. Off-page SEO includes tactics such as article marketing, directory submission, and social media marketing. Article marketing is a strategy that involves writing unique articles that contain links to the main website; these articles are then submitted to directories, including those provided by the major search engines like Yahoo and Google. Directory submission involves submitting articles to directories that include topics related to your website, and social media marketing is an off-page SEO tactic that involves sharing valuable information through social networking platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.

The most effective SEO strategies incorporate several separate components that are designed to optimize your site for specific keywords. Keyword research is an important part of every on-page SEO strategy. This research allows you to identify the keywords that best describe your business, website, or product. Because many of the largest search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing rely on information provided by Internet users, it is critical that your keywords are precise and targeted. Once you have identified your target audience, you can then develop an effective SEO strategy by incorporating all of the above strategies.
